Our Standards

Four Pillars of Responsibility

Fair Trade

We pay a guaranteed minimum 40% above the fair-trade floor price. No exceptions, no negotiation. Farmers earn what their craft deserves.

Avg. premium paid: 43% above floor

Direct Trade

Zero intermediaries. Every lot is purchased directly from the cooperative or estate that grew it. We know every farmer we buy from by name.

100% of purchases are direct-trade

Organic Farming

All lots are certified organic. No synthetic fertilisers, no pesticides, no GMOs. We will not compromise the health of the soil or the people farming it.

100% certified organic

Sustainable Packaging

All coffee bags are home-compostable, made from plant-based PLA laminates. Shipping boxes are 100% recycled cardboard, printed with vegetable inks.

Farm Partnerships

Ethiopia · Gedeo Zone · Since 2017

Halo Beriti Cooperative

The Halo Beriti cooperative comprises 322 smallholder farmers working plots of 0.5–2 hectares on the forested hillsides of Gedeo at 2,100–2,300m. We have worked with their lead agronomist since our first origin trip in 2017.

In 2021, we co-funded a second washing station on-site, halving their processing time and improving cup quality measurably. Our current premium to the cooperative is 47% above the fair-trade floor.

Finca La Palma

Run by the Salazar family for three generations, Finca La Palma sits on volcanic soil at 1,900–2,100m above the Río Magdalena valley. Their Gesha plots are some of the most carefully tended in the country.

We partnered with them to install solar drying beds in 2022, reducing energy use in the post-harvest process by 60% and improving the consistency of their natural lots dramatically.

Rwanda · Nyamasheke · Since 2020

Lake Kivu Women's Cooperative

This cooperative is led entirely by women, many of whom are heads of household. Situated on the edge of Lake Kivu at 1,750–2,000m, the volcanic-mineral soil and fog-cooled climate produce some of the brightest, most complex cups we have ever tasted.

Beyond trade, we support a literacy and financial planning programme that now serves 180 cooperative members. Education and economic independence are as important to us as cup quality.

Environmental Goals

Carbon Neutral
by 2026.

We're midway through a three-year project to make our entire operation carbon neutral — from origin to doorstep. Our 2026 target covers scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions.
