Our Story

Rooted in Craft,
Grown in Trust.

Veldt & Bean was born from a belief that extraordinary coffee is inseparable from the people who grow it. We travel to origin, pay fairly, roast slowly, and send each bag with care.

What We Believe

"The best cup of coffee begins not in the roastery, but in the relationship with the farmer who grew it."
— Maren Vogt & Selin Aydın, Co-founders
The Founders

Co-Founder & Head Roaster

Maren Vogt

Maren spent seven years as a structural architect before a trip to a Yirgacheffe farm in 2014 rewired her priorities entirely. She enrolled in the SCA Coffee Skills Programme, bought a second-hand 5kg drum roaster, and began roasting in her Prenzlauer Berg courtyard.

"Architecture taught me that every detail either serves the whole or undermines it. I try to roast with the same philosophy — every decision is in service of the bean."

Co-Founder & Head of Sourcing

Selin Aydın

Selin studied botany and ethnobotany at Humboldt University, with a focus on highland ecosystems and agroforestry. She leads all origin trips for Veldt & Bean, visiting each farm at least once per harvest season and building relationships that now span three continents.

"Coffee is one of the most biodiverse agricultural systems in the world when it's done right. My job is to find the farmers who are doing it right, and make sure they're rewarded for it."

The Journey

Eight years of slow,
intentional growth.

We have never taken investment or rushed growth. Every expansion has been earned, relationship-first and quality-led. We remain a small team who cares more about the cup than the company valuation.
